Pre/Post-Natal Support Worker (Health Centre)
Position Purpose: Working with the guidance and support of the Community Health Nurse, the Pre/Post-Natal Support Worker provides education, support & resources to all pregnant and post-natal families with infants up to 12 months of age. This will include education and information for adolescents and to those planning a pregnancy.

Pay Gride Range: $23.14 – $26.76 per hour depending on experience
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet with all newly pregnant women/families and complete initial registration into the CPNP/Prenatal Program.
- Schedule appointment/refer with/to CHN or PPN for completion of Intake Forms.
- • Advocate for women/families as needed to obtain & access relevant services.
- • Assist pregnant families to obtain a family practitioner as needed.
- • Work as a team with CHN, PPN & FP to provide comprehensive care plan.
- Assist and accompany women to appointments as needed and appropriate.
- Assist and support women living with challenges such as PPD, anxiety, addictions, nutrition, housing and provide appropriate referrals.
- Assist women to access resources such as financial support, social worker, housing, health care, childcare, mental health and Jordans Principal.
- Provide one-on-one sessions for support and make referrals as needed.
- Offer home support as assessed and needed for post-natal families.
- Attending initial home visit post-partum with CHN or PPN assigned to family.
- Provide the family with a post-partum welcome package.
- Support and promote breastfeeding in families and community.
- Programming will be guided by Nak’azdli language, traditions and culture.
- Provide, assist and support team with pre & post-natal group sessions.
- Promote and model a healthy lifestyle in the community.
Assets:
- Childbirth Educator – or willing to complete the course.
- Breastfeeding Educator – or willing to complete the course.
- Trauma Informed Care – or willing to complete the course.
Requirements:
- Pre/Post Natal Experience.
- Privacy and Security Understanding.
- Proficient with technology and office equipment.
- Proficient with social media and posting on program sites.
- Strong Communication Skills.
- Partnership, Collaboration and Advocacy Skills.
- Ethics and Professionalism.
- Food Safe Certified.
- Possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clear criminal record check.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to Conduct in Home Visits.
- Ability to attend meetings and conduct presentations.
- Meeting people, making phone calls and sending emails.
- Extensive computer usage and sitting for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Hours of Work
Your regular hours of work will be from 8:00am - 4:00pm for 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday and it is expected that all work will be completed within your regular working hours, however, you may be required from time to time to work outside your normal hour of work.
