Job Summary
The IT Support role is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and support of the organization’s IT systems, ensuring smooth and secure operations across all departments. This position involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing user support, managing IT equipment, and ensuring network security and functionality. IT Support will work under the supervision of the IT Technician to deliver efficient IT solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining workstations, software installations, and configurations.
- Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, networks, and IT infrastructure.
- Help manage IT inventory, including computers, printers, and mobile devices.
- Assist with email and account setups, ensuring seamless communication.
- Ensure IT security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, and data protection, are up to date.
- Conduct routine system updates, backups, and performance monitoring.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on basic IT troubleshooting and best practices.
- Assist in identifying IT equipment needs and placing orders when required.
- Maintain documentation of IT processes, issues, and resolutions.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Basic knowledge of IT support, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and IT security fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (preferred).
Working Conditions (Optional)
- On-site requirement: This position requires 100% on-site work at Fort St. James.
- Frequent interaction with staff for IT support.
- Manual dexterity required for operating computers and peripherals.
- May involve lifting and moving IT equipment.
